Geo-RoadTrip is a series of travelogues featuring area science, history and culture. They are more informal than most Esteem productions and take place in different parts of the country. They are typically a more interactive experience as social media is utilized in an effort to include the audience. There have also been GeoRoadTrip: Short Trips produced for specific social media video platforms.
One of the first stops is in Waco, TX at the Mayborn Museum on the Baylor campus and then to Innerspace Caverns in Georgetown, TX. After touring the caves the next destination was the city of Austin, TX where the Museum of the Weird was investigated. Downtown Austin was explored the next day with stops at the Willie Nelson statue and the Texas Capitol building. A better view of the city was seen from atop Mount Bonnell on the way to Inks Lake State Park in Burnet, TX to get a look at metamorphic rocks. After stopping in Llano, TX, the final destination for the day was Fredericksburg. The next day involved hiking up Enchanted Rock to explore the exfoliation dome.
The trip begins near Moose Lake, Minnesota where a few stops are made to check out Lake Superior Agate specimens at Moose Lake State Park. Driving through Duluth, the trip eventually leads to Park Point Beach where Devin explored the unique makeup of the beach sand. The next day, after a quick stop at the Greyhound Bus Museum, the trip heads to the Hull-Rust-Mahoning Iron Mine. Lots of giant mining equipment is on display. After that was a trip to the Minnesota Museum of Mining to see even more equipment and then finally to the Soudan Underground Mine State Park. Devin explored the dark, cavernous world of mining and got some historical perspective from the tour guide. The trip ends with a look at the Peanuts character statues in Saint Paul's Landmark Plaza.
The trip begins on the Las Vegas strip and then proceeds to the Hoover Dam. From the Devin heads to Valley of Fire State Park to investigate the rocks formations. The next day begins by touring Death Valley and making multiple stops including the Visitor's Center, Zabriskie Point, Golden Canyon and Badwater Basin. After a quick stop at Vasquez Rocks, various movie filming locations near Lone Pine, CA were explored as well as the Museum of Western Film History. The day ends with a stop at the Lone Pine Rock & Gift rock shop. The first stop of the next day was Fossil Falls followed by Red Rock Canyon State Park. After a quick look at the San Andreas Fault there was a stop at the La Brea Tar Pits. The trip ended with a look around some of the sites of Los Angeles.
The trip begins in the city of Peeksill, NY on the edge of the Hudson River Valley. At a local park, Devin shares information about the formation of the area and checks out some of the rocks of the area. Heading toward the Catskill Mountains, there are several roadside stop at local outcrops where metamorphic rocks are seen and more of the river and its history is explored. At Bear Mountain State Park, Devin checks out Perkins Memorial Tower as well as some great views of the valley. After a quick stop for lunch at the Copperhead Club, there are a few stops along the road to discuss the Hudson River's role in the revolutionary war and quick overview of the formation of Iona Island. Day 1 of the trip concludes with the exploration of Storm King State Park. Day 2 begins with at the beginnings of the Catskill Delta. After a few stops at roadside rock out crops, Devin takes a brief hike around Minnewaska State Park Preserve. The trip is wrapped up at Palisades Park.
