Fossil Rim was a Phase 3 episode of North Texas Explorer that featured Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, TX. The episode begins with Devin giving a brief overview of the natural history of the area which leads into information about what makes the land hospitable to wildlife from different areas of the globe. Several of Fossil Rim's accomplishments are listed just before Devin begins the tour.
Devin points out several of the animal inhabitants as he travels through the park. Information about gazelles, zebras, giraffes, and other animals is relayed as the tour progresses. After a quick stop at the wolf enclosure, Devin points out an Acrocanthosaurus footprint on display at the park's overlook.
After a break there is a segment on the cheetah conservation program. Carnivore Curator, Mary Jo Stearns talks about the work Fossil Rim does to care for the big cats and to encourage breeding.
A curious rhino sniffs Devin
After another break, Devin speaks with Animal Care Specialist Adam Eyres about the rhinoceros breeding program. Eyres shows off the newest rhino calf who is happy to run and play for the camera. This leads to a trip behind the scenes to the rhino care facility where Devin sees firsthand what kinds of work goes into keeping the rhinos clean, fed, and healthy.
