The Dallas Zoo was a Phase 3 episode of North Texas Explorer that featured the many exhibits and programs of the Dallas Zoo. The episode begins at the entrance of the zoo with some information about the large giraffe statue and the Endangered Species Carousel. Charles Siegel, Deputy Director for Animal Management, is interviewed and gives information about the establishment throughout the episode.
Devin begins exploring the zoo with a ride on the Monorail Safari in the Wilds of Africa exhibit and then heads to the Bird and Reptile Building. After a break the animals of Zoo North are featured followed by a segment on the Dallas Children's Aquarium at Fair Park. Afterward a brief segment on the Zoo's participation at the 2002 Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration at Old City Park.
The final segment focuses on the Children's Zoo section and involves Devin exploring the petting zoo, identifying rocks and minerals at the Discovery House, playing in the kid-sized naked mole rat tunnels.
